Who We Are
Almeida's Mexican Restaurant is a family owned small business. The business initially began in 2016, in Waynesboro, Mississippi under the prior name of Las Fuentes. After two years of business there under our management, it was time to venture out and get back closer to home. A building became available in Chatom, Alabama, which was perfect to start a new chapter. We made the leap of faith and gave it a try!
We opened the doors in August of 2018 with a name change to Almeida's Mexican Restaurant and never looked back! Many ask us about the name and where it comes from. Almeida is a part of Ruben's family name in Mexico. We wanted to make it special and tie it to Mexico somehow. We have enjoyed serving the local communities, towns and neighboring counties. We enjoy being a part of your lives in all the ways you allow us to. Our mission has been to provide high-quality food with Mexican and American influence, while also offering great food with a fun, welcoming environment for all to enjoy.

Ruben and Brittany Almeida are the owners of the restaurant. Brittany has been a native of Washington County her entire life, so the chance to open the business near home wasn't even thought about twice. Prior to owning her own business, she waitressed many years while putting herself through nursing school. She currently works as a Registered Nurse many days she is not at the restaurant. She takes pride in any job she does and loves to see people happy.
While working as a waitress in 2006, she met her other half, Ruben Almeida, hence the name of the restaurant. Ruben is from Toluca, Mexico. A large city about an hour away from Mexico City. After moving to the United States in 2004, he worked with his Uncle for twelve years in the restaurant business and somewhere along the way he had the dream of one day opening his own. He takes so much pride in the food he cooks for his customers. He is a perfectionist and wants everything to be exceptional. He wants his guests to leave smiling.
Upon entering the restaurant, you will immediately feel welcomed with a smile and friendly faces from the amazing staff, like they have known you forever! Along with the atmosphere of festive music playing over the speakers and beautiful colored art on the wall and throughout, you may even feel like you are in a part of Mexico! Nothing beats that. It will be a visit you will never forget!
